Sure! I’ll even include some great Do’s and Dont’s for your time in LA!
Do:
- show off your accent. we love Australians. You will get many girls.
- possibly be prepared for stupid Crocodile Hunter jokes. Americans can be awkward.
- smile at people.
- dress nice in the evenings. You never know who you’ll meet.
- visit Santa Monica beach and Venice beach. It’s not particularly gay, but there are so many attractive women to look at and fun things to do.
- Go to The Abbey in West Hollywood on sunday afternoons for Sunday Funday. Lots of cute girls.
- visit The Abbey on Wednesday nights for an awesome new ladies night.
- get super cheap drinks at Motherlode around the corner from The Abbey.
- go to Truckstop on Fridays at Here Lounge. It’s not as awesome as it used to be but it’s still okay fun.
- go to Fiesta Cantina any day for TWO FOR ONE DRINKS! Yum. It’s a gay boy bar but whatever.
- stay out of gay boy bars. They’re sweet but all they’ll do all night is tell you how fabulous you are and hanging out with gay boys (no matter how much you love them) will not get you laid on Friday nights.
- NOTE: gay boy bars ALWAYS have cheaper drinks than lesbian bars.
- head over to Silverlake & Los Feliz for some awesome bars. There aren’t really “lesbian” bars there but many many lesbians live there that are mostly artists, musicians, models, etc and all have awesome hip style. Silverlake is hipster city and I absolutely love it.
- hit the Thirst Crow in Silverlake. Awesome bar.
- visit Griffith Park in Los Feliz. It is breathtaking.
- take a hike up Runyon Canyon in the mornings. Good exercise and good bonding time. And hot girls with nice bodies.
- watch a show at the Greek Theater in Griffith Park. It’s an AMAZING venue.
- visit Hollywood. Its touristy, but you gotta do it.
- visit the Standard Hotel (in DOWNTOWN LA) rooftop pool on saturday around noon. great times.
- eat from the food trucks and Mexican food carts you see in Silverlake and West Hollywood.
- get drunk and eat a bacon-wrapped hotdog from a food cart in West Hollywood. They will change your life. I promise.
- eat at In N Out. Google their “secret menu” beforehand.
- visit The Grove.
- visit LACMA and the MOCA and the Getty Villa. There is AMAZING art in this city.
- eat all the mexican food you can. It is the most authentic.
- make out with cute girls.
- carry a lighter. Trust me.
- make good decisions.
- make good first impressions. You never know who you may be talking to or who they’re friends with.
- be yourself.
- have ALL THE FUN EVER!
DONT:
- hit on girls that have girlfriends. Even on vacations. That’s just, like, the rules of feminism!
- wear cargo shorts. Ever.
- wear wife-beaters.
- wear flip flops to the bar. Ever.
- spike your hair. Ever.
- dress like you just woke up.
- dress like a 14 year old boy. Or girl.
- be in Hollywood after 10pm unless you’re heading somewhere. It can go from “beautiful street” to “cardboard houses” in two blocks.
- be obnoxiously drunk.
- be shy or stalk a cute girl around the bar. Talk to her.
- interrupt friends in a conversation to talk to the cute girl. It’s awkward. Wait until the right time. Be patient.
- complain about standing in line to get into a bar. It makes you look pretentious.
- complain about people that get into the bar without having to stand in the line. They have earned it.
- carry lots of cash. Everyone takes debit/credit cards.
- complain about cover charge.
- spend lots of money on drinks at an expensive bar, when there is a cheap one at the corner you can go to beforehand.
- offer to buy a girl a drink right off the bat. There are many girls in the AA program these days, which is wonderful. Ask her what she’s drinking first.
- be rude to our Mexican flower ladies. We love them. They have been here selling flowers for longer than I’ve been alive.
- sit in the corner. Mingle!
- be afraid to tell us that you’re visiting, but don’t corner a group of girls and ask them what to do around the city…its a lot of pressure!
- freak out if you see a celebrity. If its someone you love, politely go up when it’s appropriate and ask to take a picture with them. They will be happy to do so :)
- GO INTO INGLEWOOD OR COMPTON. these areas can be super dangerous if you don’t know your way around.
- ask for or offer drugs. Like I said, many girls are in AA and NA.
- forget to tip your waiter and your bartender. Seriously.
- valet your car if you can find street parking.
- forget to read the parking rules on a street. Tickets are very expensive in LA.
- talk shit on LA. Only we can do that.
- worry. We will love you!
Just be yourself, get ready to have fun, and you won’t believe all the amazing times you’ll experience! LA girls may seem intimidating from a distance but we are always, always happy to meet new people because all of us have at some point been the “new kid” too. Enjoy!!! Let me know how it goes.
